These guys are so transparent it's hilarious. While looking through today's news clips, I ran across this ridiculous piece of crap:

I believe we need sensible legislation at both the state and federal levels that would require public schools to decrease law school enrollment by 25% while concurrently increasing enrollment in the hard sciences by 25%. To accomplish this shift, schools will need to work harder to promote and support their science programs and they will need to cap student admissions in their law programs at a more conservative number. Continued federal and state funding should be made contingent on reaching this change in enrollment within the next two years.

Huh? Who the hell is this yahoo?

Steven T. Voigt is a lawyer with a premier law firm that has offices throughout the United States and Europe.

Oh, for crying out loud...

Below is a clip from the movie Matir Moyna by director Tareque Masud. It's a brilliant film, and I highly recommend trying to find a copy of it.

This clip is especially interesting, I think, because it well expresses a struggle, certainly within Bangladesh, but I believe within religion itself (and no, not just Islam). The clip features a song in Bangla, but it's subtitled for us bideshis. This is also a great example of traditional Bangla music.

It's time for a little sanskriti.

First up, this is a music video by the band Warfaze. They're one of the big names in the Bangladesh metal scene. Seriously, these guys are HUGE. Parents HATE this band and kids have their name written all over their school bags.

Also, here is a great video clip shot at a dokan (store) somewhere outside Dhaka. I can't tell you how eerily familiar this is; it really captures a lot of the feeling of sitting at a roadside shop.

Okay, so life in DC isn't all bad. Especially when you can get in on the pork.
