Rush Limbaugh - Most Americans are "blithering idiots"

In fact, USA Today's got a poll: "Do you think something's wrong about the firing of eight US attorneys?" 72% said yes. 72% of the American people, a bunch of blithering idiots who have no idea what they're talking about, but yet they voted, so these polls matter, "72%, yes, you need to look into this, this is horrible, this is rotten, 72% of the people say the American system is broken when these US attorneys can simply be fired by the president," that is just an indication of so much ignorance out there, lack of civics education and what have you.*

From a CBS interview with former Tyco chief, current guest of the Mid-State Correctional Facility in upstate New York, Dennis Kozlowski.

"I was a guy sitting in a courtroom who made $100 million a year. And I think a juror sitting there just would have to say, 'All that money, he musta done somethin' wrong.' I think it's as you know, it's as simple as that," he says.

Once you let commoners sit in judgment of people of a higher class, you're bound to have class envy reflected in the results. There is only one proper solution: As Chief Justice John Jay rightly noted, "the people who own the country ought to govern it."

Congratulations to the the Tigers on their win against Bermuda, especially in such conditions. I was going crazy watching the play-by-play commentary on my mobile, what with the rain delays, reduced overs, and a recalculated target. But the Tigers roared to the occasion and have broken through to the Super 8s.

They have a tough road ahead, but no matter what happens going forward, they have proved that they deserve to be there, and that Bangladesh fields a world class cricket team.

The win today is especially sweet, coming as it does on the eve of Independence Day and National Day, when the nation pays tribute to the martyrs, freedom fighters, and people of Bangladesh who struggled and sacrificed for their independence.

I received an e-mail this morning from a very dear friend who is a freedom fighter from the liberation war. He told me that every year on this day his heart swells with pride. I hope that this Independence Day is especially joyous for him as he celebrates not only his nation, but their impressive showing in the world cup.

Joy Bangla!

As I'm sure you are well aware, the Cricket World Cup is going on right now. This blog is solidly behind The Tigers.

So far, it's been a great showing. Bangladesh defeated India last weekend by 5 wickets, and, while they fell to Sri Lanka on Wednesday, today's defeat of India by Sri Lanka puts the Tigers in a good place going forward.

India has 2 losses, but a higher net run rate than Bangladesh right now. So, while the Tigers have a good opportunity to knock out India and advance, they need a win against Bermuda on Sunday to lock it in. Here's to Bangladesh! Joy Bangla!

The Watson Brothers - Rong

Bangla indie rock. "Rong" means "color". And this song is good.

Not ones to spend their whole lives drunk at frat parties, another of the Bush clan is doing something to make the world a better place.

Jenna Bush, in a rare interview, says her forthcoming book for teens — about a 17-year-old single mother in Panama who is living with HIV — will end with a "call to action."
...
Bush says she will donate her earnings to UNICEF. She says she "very, very modestly" hopes her book will have some of the influence of two books about girls caught up in the Holocaust: Lois Lowry's novel Number the Stars and Anne Frank's The Diary of Anne Frank.*

Such a meek, humble people, the Bushes.

Here's my suggestion regarding the conviction of "Scooter" Libby. Let Bush pardon the guy, then pass a Constitutional amendment striking the right of presidential pardon.

Interesting hearing:
